A Crewe Indian restaurant has been named one of the 10 finalists for North West Curry Restaurant of the Year - according to the 2022 annual English Curry Awards.

Passage To India, Nantwich Road, Crewe, has been named within the top 10 Curry Restaurants of the Year for the North West of England.

The Crewe restaurant came alongside: Relish Tandoori, Northwich, Forts of India Malpas, Malpas, Holdi Spice Lounge, Little Sutton and Bombay & Indian Restaurant, Warrington.

Passage To India, Nantwich Road, has been named one of the North West 10 finalists (Passage To India).

Little India, Frodsham, Racasssi Restaurant, Altrincham, KingfishR Indian Cuisine, Congleton, Nellie Indian Restaurant, Scarisbrick and Coconut Grove, Chester also made the top 10.

The English Curry Awards was established in 2012 by Oceanic Consulting, to celebrate Asian talent across the UK's curry industry.

2022 is the eleventh year of the English Curry Awards, celebrating the top Asan curry professionals and businesses across the UK.

Owner and director of Passage To India, Mr Abas Ali told Nub News: "We are privileged to be in these wards and are really looking forward to be representing Crewe.

"We were nominated last year for these awards and we are all grateful for it.

The finalist shortlist is determined by a public vote, with the awards ceremony taking place on August 22 at Holiday Inn, Birmingham Airport.

Mr Ali added: "It will be an interesting night for sure. Thank you to all who will nominate us and thank you to all our customers who continue to support us."

The finalists for the top Curry Restaurant of the Year, has been split into regions of: North West, North East, Yorkshire and the Humber, East Midlands, West Midlands, East of England, South East and South West.

Each region has a list of 10 finalists.

Food at Passage To India. The winners will be decdied by a public vote and announced at the awards ceremony on August 22 (Passage To India).

A spokesperson for event organiser Oceanic Consulting said: "The curry campaign has been hugely successful across the UK, with Scottish, English and London editions to the awards.

"The English Curry Awards were one of our first and remain one of our best awards.

"It's always a brilliant night of fun, food and celebration."

Habiba's School of Spice, Goostrey, Crewe has also been revealed as a Curry School of the Year finalist.

The Cheshire school teaches regional masterclasses for homemade dishes across South East Asia, focusing on Bangladeshi and Indian food.

The Oceanic Consulting spokesperson added: "Despite the many challenges facing the curry industry, these awards prove year after year how much talent there is fuelling the industry, satisfying all of our curry cravings.

Passage To India was awarded a five-star food hygiene rating in December 2021 (Passage To India).

"We have an abundance of talent and fierce competitions this year and we wish the best of luck to all finalists."
