A GROUP of poets from Crewe aren't clowning around with the release of their second album.
Fall in Green are Mark Sheeky and Deborah Edgeley, a duo specialising in experimental poetry, who for their latest album, Apocalypse of Clowns, have branched out from accompanying pianist work to multi-instrumentation.
The album was released on World Poetry Day on March 23 and the pair are hoping they find more appreciative audiences when restrictions allow after performing their first album, Testing the Delicates, at libraries and festivals across Cheshire.
Mark Sheeky, an author and computer programmer, is responsible for the piano/instrumentation, while Deborah, who formed the group in 2017, has carved a niche as a poet and performance artist.
Their latest offering includes: 'Dead Hand', a dark take on 'Wuthering Heights and a nine-minute adaptation of the classic Lewis Carroll poem, 'Jabberwocky'.
A previous EP, entitled 'War is Over', commemorated the end of WW1, and among their single releases are 'Who is Afraid/She Floats', a tribute to Virginia Woolf.
Mark and Deborah said: "Our new album breaks away from simple piano and poetry into progressive multi-instrumentation for a ground breaking explosion of sawdust and glitter."
If you have a fondness for prog-rock; maybe there is a Marillion or Van de Graaf Generator album tucked away in your vinyl collection? Or you just like poetry? Then Fall in Green may be something of a unique sound for the Crewe area worth giving a listen.
