Co-op store's new foodbank point helps out Crewe poverty and homeless charity

By Gwyn Griffiths 27th Aug 2021

DONATIONS of food and essentials from a Co-op store are being funnelled towards a local charity at the forefront helping those in poverty as well as the homeless in Crewe.

Crewe's Gateway Co-op has set up a foodbank in the store to take donations for the Community Food Pantry at Chance Changing Lives.

The charity has been running a Saturday night kitchen at Jubilee House for homeless and vulnerable people during the pandemic.

While staff and volunteers have been unable to welcome people indoors, they have laid on nutritious meals and provided toiletries and sleeping bags to those most in need from the doors of the St. Paul's Street centre.

If you are shopping in the Gateway Store then why not consider making a donation to the Community Pantry run by Chance Changing Lives at 11-13 Coronation Crescent in Crewe.

It is open between 10am and 2pm Monday to Friday.

If you want to know more about the Co-op's community work at its Gateway and Haslington stores then contact Member Pioneer Jamie Messent on 0749 6585263.
