Crewe man charged after overtaking police on scooter while drunk and without licence
A Crewe man is set to appear in court next month, after being charged with driving a scooter while drunk and without a licence.
On Sunday 23 July, an unmarked Cheshire Police traffic patrol car was overtaken by a grey Scomadi scooter on Eardswick Lane, Leighton.
At around 12:10am, the rider displaying L plates pulled over on Cross Lane, Church Minshull.
The driver, carrying a pillion passenger, panicked and tried to make off, but was restrained by officers and arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
Scarlett Thomas, 18, of Merlin Court, Leighton, has since been charged with drink driving and driving without a licence.
Mr Thomas has been bailed and is set to appear at Crewe Magistrates' Court on Thursday 10 August.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson told Nub News: "At around 12.10am on Sunday 23 July, police stopped a grey Scomadi scooter on Cross Lane, Minshull Vernon
"The rider, an 18-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
"Scarlett Thomas, of Merlin Court, Leighton, has since been charged with drink driving and driving without a licence.
"Thomas has been bailed to appear at Crewe Magistrates on Thursday 10 August."
