Crewe man arrested following murder of Cheshire woman found at roadside

A 32-year-old man from Crewe has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of Charlotte Dodd, 35, from Congleton (Cheshire Police).
A 32-year-old man from Crewe has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of Charlotte Dodd, 35, from Congleton (Cheshire Police).

A man from Crewe has been arrested on suspicion of murder, following a serious incident in Congleton where a 35-year-old woman from Cheshire died.

On Sunday 24 September, police were notified Charlotte Dodd from Congleton, had been found unconscious at the roadside on Padgbury Lane, near to Arnside Avenue.

At around 2:08am, officers and paramedics attended, with Charlotte taken to the Royal Stoke Hospital, where she sadly died.

Charlotte Dodd, 35, from Congleton, sadly died at Royal Stoke Hospital (SWNS).

Charlotte's family said of their loss: "We have lost our beautiful girl in the most tragic way. We ask as a family to be allowed to grieve in private."

The incident involved a white Peugeot Bipper van and a 32-year-old man from Crewe, who is known to the woman.

He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder.

The man has since been released on conditional bail.

Detective Inspector David Hutcheon said: "Whilst it took place in the early hours of the morning, I would ask anyone who was driving through the area at that time, or who lives nearby and may have seen or heard something, to get in touch. 

"I would ask members of the community in that area to check their CCTV systems to see if they have had any activations including audio recordings around this time."

The 32-year-old Crewe man has been released on conditional bail following the suspected murder of Charlotte Dodd (Cheshire Police).

"The same goes for anyone with any dashcam footage which may aid the investigation."
