Crewe hotel closed down over suspected child sex offences
By Ryan Parker 29th Oct 2026
A closure notice has been issued at a Crewe hotel over suspected activities linked to child sex offences.
The notice applies to Belvilla Hotel, Macon Way, formerly the Holiday Inn Express, issued by Cheshire Police under the Sexual Offences Act 2003.
It says there are reasonable grounds to believe the premises, opposite McDonald's, have been used for activities related to one or more specified child sex offences and could be used for such activities again.
The notice says a closure order is necessary to prevent this from happening.
Access to the hotel is restricted under the notice, with entry prohibited except in certain circumstances, including for the owner or someone who regularly lives at the premises.
Anyone who breaches the notice or obstructs police or an authorised person enforcing it could commit an offence.
An application for a closure order is due to be heard at Chester Magistrates' Court at 2pm on Friday 30 October.
If granted, the order could close the premises to everyone for up to three months.
The notice is a legal measure pending the court hearing. It does not, by itself, establish that an offence has been committed.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson told Nub News: "We can confirm that a Closure Notice has been authorised for a hotel in Macon Way, Crewe, following safeguarding concerns at the premises.
"The application for the Closure Order is set to be heard at Chester Magistrates' Court on Friday 30 October 2026. Therefore, it is inappropriate to comment further at this time."
