Fitness fans have been enjoying a cracking Easter at a Crewe gym as it marks a year since reopening following lockdown.

Simply Gym on West Street, has organised competitions and give-aways to celebrate getting back in business and welcoming a growing number of members.

They are having fun posting social media pictures in a big selfie frame and taking part in raffles and gym challenges to win Easter eggs and complimentary sessions for family and friends.

Manager Kim Murray said: "Since we reopened on April 12 last year members have been eager to get back into their fitness regimes and meet up with their friends.

"The pandemic has proved extremely challenging for everyone and membership of a gym, or just doing exercise of any sort, has become more important than ever to support mental health.

"We are so happy to have survived these troubled times and to have members on our books who have been with us since we opened in Crewe.

"We wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who has returned and to the new members who have joined us."

With its striking yellow branding the gym has been a landmark on West Street for 10 years.

Back then it took over the former Fitness First and before that the site was Crewe Squash Club.

Kim added: "Ten years on the whole ethos of Simply Gym remains the same - to make fitness affordable to everyone.

"Monthly membership is just £19.99 and there are no stressful contracts. It remains a winning formula."
