Crewe's Wynsors store is set to close this September, after the footwear retailer announced the closure of 17 stores across the UK.

The store on Earle Street is among those affected, alongside branches in Leeds, Sheffield, Wakefield, Fleetwood, Burnley, Oldham, Salford, Bury, Rochdale, Hanley, Birkenhead, Bootle, Bacup, Bolton, Gateshead and Sunderland.

Wynsors said its Crewe closing down sale is now underway, with customers able to save up to 30 per cent across selected products including shoes, boots, trainers and accessories.

In a statement shared by the company, Wynsors said: "It's with sadness that we announce that certain Wynsors stores will be closing its doors.

"We'd like to say a huge thank you to all of our customers who have shopped with us and supported the store over the years. Your support has meant so much to the whole team."

The company said the affected stores are holding closing down sales as they prepare to shut, with "everything" needing to go.

The Earle Street shop has been part opposite Grand Junction Retail Park for over 15 years, having moved from its former Queensway premises to its current location.

Wynsors stressed the closures only affect these selected stores, with its other branches continuing to trade as normal.

My apologies for the misspelt of WYNSORS.

DID CREWE Chamber of Commerce do anything to help or prevent the store from closing,
It's a shame when things like this happen especially when parents rely on good shops like Windsors who supply children's school uniform as well as a fantastic range of footwear.
They will be sadly missed.
I would also like to say to the staff a big THANK YOU for your kindness and support over the years you have given to the town.
I don't suppose for one minute the owners have had the decency to thank you for your service over the years.
I hope the staff will find jobs at other shops in the town,
But Crewe won't be the same without a WINDSORS STORE.🧐
