Volunteers from Crewe will be coming together for their 102nd litter pick, clearing rubbish from Derby Docks next week.

Crewe Clean Team, who are celebrating 10 years of existence, consists of more than 200 local residents passionate about their local environment.

The team hold regular, monthly litter picks, planting bulbs and wildflowers at locations they can.

Each member is provided with equipment to keep rubbish off their own neighbourhoods.

Organiser of Crewe Clean Team, David McDonald told Nub News: "The last time we were at Derby Docks was in 2018.

The undergrowth is thin at the moment, so it is a good time to clear rubbish from the bushes. "We started in January 2012 and have kept going because our members have pride in their town. Normally 15 to 20 people attend each litter pick and their equipment will be provided." All volunteers will meet at Live @ the Lane social club park on Underwood Lane at 11am. Around 90 minutes will be spent removing litter from Derby Docks, before the members of the group will withdraw to the Delamere Pub at 12:30pm ('The Blazer') on Underwood Lane for teas and coffees. David posted on social media: "New members are welcome. This is a good one for children because we are not near busy roads, there is also a play area for them." The Crewe Clean Team usually receive donations for their hard work and send it to Comic Relief. This time, all members will be sending their donations to the people of Ukraine. You can donate to the people of Ukraine here. David added: "Thank you to Paul Wharton for letting us park at the social club and thank you to Jade and Chloe for sorting out refreshments for us at the pub."
