A CREWE chippie has been recognised in a top 50 awards list.

The Fish Bar on Sunnybank Road is among the winners in trade publication Fry Magazine's 50 best takeaways and 10 best mobile units awards 2021.

Eateries were judged on the basis of a mystery dining visit with points scored on a range of markers including quality of food, customer service, social media presence and Covid-safe practices.

Fry magazine says that the "flakiness of fish, crispness of the chips and the crunch of the batter" were key determinants on food quality.

The Fish Bar, located next to the Co-op store opposite the King George Playing Fields, has picked up a number of industry awards over the years, since owner Craig Buckley first opened an outlet on Alton Street 12 years ago, moving to the current premises in 2012.

The business also runs a mobile unit, The Fish Bar On Wheels.
