Crewe Bentley worker labels company 'disgrace' following new pay deal to staff
A Bentley Motors worker in Crewe has labelled the luxury car maker a "disgrace" after it offered a new pay deal to staff, with a reported 97 per cent rejection rate.
Bentley Motors, Pyms Lane, recently offered a new pay deal to its workers.
The Crewe-based company worked with union leaders before finalising the pay offer which went to a members' ballot.
A Bentley Motors worker has since complained to Nub News, saying the new pay deal has had an estimated 97 per cent rejection rate among members.
The employee, who wishes to remain anonymous, expressed concerns about reported changes to sick pay policies, as well as the pay of long-serving staff.
They told Nub News: "Bentley has offered a new pay deal to its workers and change in a sick policy, but it came to a vote with a 97 per cent rejection rate.
"It also wants to move some permanent staff to accommodate outside contractors as its cheaper.
"In the new pay deal they don't have to pay sick pay.
"Bentley workers don't have the backing from the union about this situation, all they say you haven't lost your job.
"It's a total disgrace what is happening."
Bentley Motors is currently holding another members' pay ballot for a revised pay deal, with a deadline of Thursday 29 February.
Crewe Nub News has contacted Bentley Motors for comment on two occasions.
