Owen Lunt, 21, has been handed a two-match ban for a 'clear act of simulation' in Crewe's 2-1 home defeat to Barnet on September 13 (Crewe Alex).

A Crewe Alexandra midfielder, who has been a regular starter this season, has been handed a two-match ban for a "clear act of simulation," following an FA hearing.

Owen Lunt, 21, won a 70th-minute penalty for Crewe in The Railwaymen's 2-1 home defeat to Barnet on Saturday 13 September.

The penalty, which was missed by Max Sanders, was awarded by referee, Declan Bourne, who had deemed Lunt has been fouled by Bees defender, Danny Collinge.

Collinge was booked in the incident, but saw keeper, Cieran Slicker, save twice from the spot in the space 10 minutes to earn his side victory.

Following a review into the incident between Danny Collinge and Owen Lunt, the FA has deemed Lunt dived to win Crewe a penalty (Crewe Alex).

Following a review, the FA has since deemed Lunt dived and have now penalised him for his actions.

Lunt, who has started all eight EFL League Two matches for Crewe in 2025/26 denied the charge, but the Regulatory Commission upheld its original decision.

The Alex academy graduate will now miss upcoming matches away to Barrow (September 20) and at home to Notts County (September 27).

An FA spokesman said: "It was alleged that the player committed a clear act of simulation, which led to a penalty kick, and this amounts to improper conduct.

"Owen Lunt denied the charge, but the Regulatory Commission found it to be proven following a hearing."
