CREWE'S players could find themselves in front of fans again for the club's next two League One trips.

Saturday's trip to Hull will definitely see home support admitted after ten EFL clubs were chosen to admit spectators on Saturday (September 19) as part of the pilot programme which could lead to a larger readmission of supporters.

And Oxford United, who Crewe visit on Saturday, October 3 have requested that fixture is also treated as a pilot game.

Crewe have also confirmed that they have made a request to the EFL to be considered to host a future test event.

Crowds will be capped at 1,000 while discussions continue with the government and the pilots are monitored.

Cambridge United's EFL Trophy tie with Fulham under-21s on September 8 is being viewed as a successful pilot. Social distancing, compulsory mask-wearing and a discretionary singing ban were in place when 862 fans attended the tie.

The club had a second pilot event, last Saturday's visit of Carlisle, shelved after the government's 'Rule of 6' announcement.

But since then Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden has made positive noises, offering clubs hope that supporters will not have to wait too long to return if an "evidence base" collected from the pilot games proves positive.

EFL Chairman Rick Parry said: "The health and well-being of supporters and wider communities remains the priority, but as we showed at Cambridge, social distancing can be applied safely.

"We hope to further demonstrate the measures developed can allow fans to return in greater numbers from as early as next month.

For this weekend's pilots there are three Championship games, four in League One and three in League Two, with Cambridge involved again at Morecambe.

Only home supporters are being admitted to the games.

Meanwhile, the Alex have also written to Crewe and Nantwich MP Kieran Mullan to ask for his support.

Alex fans can watch the game at Hull on the club's iFollow stream here.
