A FOOTBALL match organised by Crewe Alex stadium announcer Andy Scoffin raised over £1,000 for the Christie charity in less than a day.

The lifelong Alex fan, who is battling cancer for the second time, initially aimed to raise £1,200 for the Manchester hospital where he has received treatment.

Andy's JustGiving fundraiser total has soared to £2,130 in a matter of days with supporters making a minimum donation of £25 to secure a place within two squads ready to take to the Gresty Road turf on Sunday, May 9 (K.O 7pm).

Donations are still being taken for a great cause, although all the playing places have been filled.

The match will have a replica shirt theme to it with one team being asked to turn up in Alex home shirts of any era, and the other in away shirts of any colour.

Andrew said: "Many of you know I am fighting cancer for the second time in 11 years. I was a Christie patient in 2009/10 for several months and sadly I am again in 2020/21."
