Council announces Crewe bin collections will still run on day of Queens' Funeral

Cheshire East Council has issued information regarding the day of the Queen's funeral - clarifying which services will remain operational.

The council says it will continue to operate essential services only during the bank holiday on Monday (September 19th) - as a mark of respect.

Cheshire East Council will continue to run its household bin collections but the majority of other services will be closed.

A spokesperson said: "Household bin collections continue as normal but the borough's household waste recycling centres, Everybody Health and Leisure facilities and Tatton Park facilities will be closed as a mark of respect."

Take a look at all of Cheshire East Council's services on September 19 below:

  • Registration services will honour existing wedding bookings, if couples wish to proceed. There will be no birth or death registrations;
  • Bereavement services – Chapels will be honouring existing bookings, by agreement with families, with no new bookings being taken;
  • Customer services – The website and chatbot will continue to be available;
  • Household waste recycling centres will be closed;
  • Household bin collections will continue as normal;
  • Everybody Health and Leisure facilities will be closed;
  • Local bus services will be operating to a normal bank holiday level of service;
  • Tatton Park buildings and car park will be closed, with the grounds remaining open for pedestrian access; 
  • Libraries will be closed;
  • Education – All schools will be closed.

McDonald's, Macon Way, Crewe. McDonald's announced today (September 14), all restaurants would be closed on the day of the Queen's funeral (Wikimedia Commons).

The likes of McDonald's, Asda, Tesco, Waitrose, M&S, Morrisons, Lidl, Aldi, Iceland, Co-op, B&Q, Argos, Greggs and Primark have all announced they will be closed on September 19.
