A closed down former Willaston pub and hotel is currently for sale for offers in excess of £300,000, six months after the venue closed down in the South Cheshire village.

The Lamb, Wistaston Road, was permanently closed by owners, Punch Pubs, on 28 July 2025, after deciding it no longer fitted in the pub and bar operator's "future plans."

Marketed by Savills, the two-storey detached venue is for sale in hope of it being taken over by another pub operator.

After The Lamb's closure, Head of Estates at Punch Pubs & Co, Stephen Radford, said: "We regularly review our estate to ensure it aligns with our long-term strategic goals.

"Following a review earlier this year, we made the decision that The Lamb no longer fits within our future plans.

"As a result, we will be placing the pub on the market for sale, with the intention of it continuing its use as a pub."

Offering car parking to the side and rear for approximately 15 vehicles, the pub also offers a beer garden and patio, commercial kitchen, conservatory dining and first floor living accommodation.

Savills say: "The property is located in the village of Willaston in the unitary authority of Cheshire East, Cheshire. The village is approximately three miles south-west of Crewe and two miles east of Nantwich.

"The Lamb Hotel is situated in a residential area to the village centre. To the rear, there is Willaston Whitestar Football Club and directly opposite is Willaston Social Club. The village is located between the A500 and A534.

"The property comprises a two storey, detached public house of brick elevations, partially rendered, set beneath a pitched, slate covered roof. To the side and rear, there are single storey extensions including a conservatory.

"Externally to the rear, there is both a beer garden and patio. There is car parking to the side and rear for approximately 15 vehicles. Overall, the site extends to 0.3 acres."

Nantwich Nub News will keep local residents updated on the future sale of the former Willaston pub site.

Hi Steve.
I'm referring to the chancellor as she hasn't done anything to support the hospitality industry,
This is only my assumption.
And life doesn't stand still ,
It's correct to say if it costs to much to bring up to date either bulldozer it or sell it.

As they say if you don't use it you loose it,
That's a fact of life.
It mustn't of had much trade for punch taverns to put up the shutters and say sorry were closing.
Another community hub watering hole lost,
Thank you CHANCELLOR.

I suspect the locals would be very opposed to HMO and might go down the "community asset" route to block any change of use. Reading Nantwich News from July LAST YEAR when it closed, there seemed to be local support for the tenants running it but the building owners (Punch Taverns) sold it from under them. Looking at the photos it neededs money spending to bring it up to date and Punch probably couldn't be bothered.

Would make a decent HMO if the council approved it, hard to see it being a viable pub again and housing is needed in the area.
