CHESHIRE East Council has stressed its bin collections will continue through lockdown - even if it gets extended beyond December 2.

Ansa Environmental Services, the council's waste company, has pledged to deliver a full service across the borough, including the fulfilment of its Christmas bin collection schedule.

But waste officers will be placing information stickers on bins of households whose normal collections fall on Christmas Day, the bank holiday and New Year's Day, advising them of some changes to their collection schedule over the Christmas and New Year period.

There will be no garden waste collections from Tuesday, December 22 to Monday, January 4, 2021, so that vehicles can catch up after the bank holidays on recycling and waste collections and to cope with the additional volumes.

Cllr Laura Crane, Cheshire East Council Cabinet member responsible for environmental services, said: "The council is committed to delivering a full waste and recycling service despite the current lockdown measures.

"We want to reassure residents that, as with the first lockdown in March, waste collections will not be affected, and our crews will continue to deliver a dedicated service across Cheshire East.

"As in previous years, we will also be issuing our Christmas collection stickers from mid-November and would like to remind residents to check these new bin dates for the bank holidays over the festive period."

Some collections are to be brought forward, and others pushed back, depending on normal bin collection days.

The changes will only affect those households that have their household waste or recycling collections on a Monday or a Friday.

There will be no recycling or black bin collections on Christmas Day, 28 December or New Year's Day.

Household waste and recycling centres have stayed open throughout the latest lockdown and will do so through the festive period (except for Christmas Day) to accept garden waste and any excess household waste.
