A CARE company says it expects to create between 50 and 60 jobs when it opens a new home in Shavington.
Anavo says an 18-month building programme will start later this year on the care complex off Gresty Road/Jack Mills Way after Cheshire East planners gave permission for the project last month.
The residential care home, which will cater for people requiring nursing and specialist dementia care, will include a café, library, games room and sun terrace, alongside 72 en-suite bedrooms with wet room facilities.
Anavo says the home will have a "high-quality environment underpinned by an evidence-based care model that will deliver the best possible care for older people".
The company's care model aims to promote independence for its residents and ensure they remain an integral part of their local community, helped by grouping eight to 10 residents with similar interests in each unit to recreate "family households".
A spokesperson for the care company said: "It is expected that once the home is fully operational between 50 to 60 jobs will be created."
While Cheshire East Council's southern planning committee approved the plans for the site, which had previously been earmarked in the Local Plan for other uses, including retail, there were some concerns raised by councillors over "inadequate" parking provision.
While Crewe North councillor Jill Rhodes highlighted the siting of a plant room and kitchen on the building's second floor and reminded the committee about the problems of fires breaking out on roofs.
But Shavington councillor David Marren, who supported the plans, said: "I think people in the local area would prefer to see a care home and not a commercial site. It's going to bring in jobs and other economic benefits."
