A busker has been arrested on suspicion of hate offences in Crewe, after allegedly singing "offensive songs" in the town centre.

On Saturday 26 September, Cheshire Police received reports of a hate crime on Market Street.

At 2.30pm, officers arrived at the scene, arrested a 37-year-old man.

The man has since been released on conditional bail until Thursday 19 November.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson told Nub News: "At 2.30pm on Saturday 26 September, police were called to reports of a hate crime in Crewe.

"The caller reported a busker on Market Street, who was singing offensive songs.

"Police attended and a 37-year-old man from Crewe was arrested on suspicion of hate offences, the man has since been released on conditional bail until 19 November."
