Break-in gang use empty store to steal £50,000 stock from Crewe phone shop
POLICE are hunting a gang of burglars who made off with £50,000 of stock from a Crewe phone shop.
The masked trio broke through a wall in an empty adjoining shop unit to get into My Tech World/Phone Bits in Market Street at the weekend.
Officers discovered the methods used by the gang, who were caught on the shop's CCTV, when the burglary was reported by the shop owners yesterday afternoon.
The owner of the mobile phone shop, Sheraz Khan, said the burglars took a large selection of high-value phones after boring out two holes to gain access.
The offenders may have accessed the shops via an emergency exit in the disused Burton store on the corner of Market Street and Victoria Street.
"They've taken all the expensive phones. I have a security alarm and cameras and they are on the CCTV, but they all had masks on," said Mr Khan.
"We can't close the shop and we are still selling what is left. We were struggling anyway because of the pandemic and now this."
Cheshire Police say enquiries are ongoing and officers are studying CCTV footage and forensics from the scene.
A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "At around 12.40pm on Sunday (July 25) police were called to reports of a burglary at a business premises on Market Street, Crewe.
"Officers attended and found that unknown offenders had entered a disused premises. Once inside the men forced entry into a neighbouring store and stole a quantity of stock."
Anyone with any information about the burglary is asked to call Cheshire Police on 101, or visit, quoting IML 1046091.
Information can also be reported anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
