A CREWE bingo hall is helping to provide Christmas hampers to the most vulnerable after reopening following lockdown.

Mecca Bingo is backing the 'Everyone Deserves a Christmas' campaign and has been taking donations off its regulars who have returned to the Phoenix Leisure Park entertainment venue.

Crewe and Nantwich MP Kieran Mullan visited the hall to thank bingo players for their donations.

Mecca has teamed up with local charities, such as St Paul's Pantry food bank, to provide hampers to those struggling this Christmas.

The MP said: "I want to thank the team at Mecca Bingo in Crewe for their fantastic 'Everyone Deserves a Christmas' campaign. This year has been exceptionally challenging, particularly for the most vulnerable across the country, and I would encourage anyone who can to donate to this cause.

"It was also great to have a tour of the hall and to hear how the staff have made the venue Covid secure. Community activities, like bingo, are so important for people's mental health and for tackling loneliness."

Mecca General Manager, Vicky Slater said "We're delighted to be launching the Christmas campaign and to be bringing a little festive cheer to those most in need.

"It's been a year unlike any other, so we're thrilled to continue to give something back to our community and will be incredibly grateful for any donations."
