Big Crewe Market Hall quiz returns – with £1,500 Prize Draw winners revealed live
By Ryan Parker 8th Sep 2026
A popular Thursday night quiz is returning to Crewe Market Hall from Thursday 10 September, also the new home of the Crewe Prize Draw's live winner announcements.
General manager of the Earle Street venue from 2021 to 2023, Gary Johnson is relaunching the quiz under FrontGuyGary Entertainment, with the new-look Thursday night event joining forces with Crewe Nub News' fortnightly Prize Draw.
Every other Thursday, the five Crewe Prize Draw winners will be announced live during the quiz at 7.30pm.
And there is an added incentive to be in the Market Hall when the names are read out. If one of the five winners is there, they will also receive a £50 Crewe Market Hall voucher.
Rather than simply discovering online that they have won, players can now be in the room as the winning names are revealed, potentially turning an ordinary Thursday night into a £1,500 celebration.
The evening starts at 6.30pm with 'Fifteen Minutes of Fame, (launching with Faye McCallum), giving local performers a chance to showcase their talents, before the main quiz begins at 7pm.
There will be six 10-question rounds covering General Knowledge, Pop Culture, History, Lifestyle, Music audio clips and a Picture Board, including a special round presented by a local trader.

There will also be a quick-fire round of Stand Up Bingo.
Weekly quiz prizes total £200, funded by the Market Hall and local traders, with £120 for the winning team, £50 for second place and £30 for the bingo winner.
Teams are limited to six people and mobile devices must be stored in clear bags during quiz rounds to ensure fair play. The evening finishes at around 9pm.
Gary, who first became involved with the Market Hall by MCing its opening ceremony, said returning felt like a "homecoming".
He told Nub News: "What I like to do with everything I do is try and put a smile on people's faces.
"Being on a stage, whatever you're doing, is that opportunity to do so. It's a bit like when I did the breakfast show for five years and 1,200 shows; I always wanted to put a smile on people's faces in the morning.
"It all started at the Market Hall for me when I MC'd and compered the opening ceremony, and from there they asked me if I would consider taking over the general manager's role.
"I was manager from 2021 to 2023. As I walked back in here today, it was like I was in yesterday. I loved it; it's stuff like that that keeps me going."
Gary said he approached the Market Hall towards the end of June with an idea to get involved again, after learning the existing quiz would be paused during August.
He said: "I really wanted the Market Hall to be a community space, which it still is, which I think is great and brilliant for the town. You build on that, and then you start to bring in other people."
The Crewe Prize Draw costs £2 a ticket, with five winners selected every fortnight. One winner receives £1,500, while four others receive £20 each.
Money raised supports four Crewe charities, with Swansway Motor Group the anchor supporter.
