ENTERPRISING young people are being sought to take part in a Young Trader Market to mark the reopening of Crewe Market Hall.
The hall is set to throw open its doors again on May 17 after a £3 million revamp of the Grade II listed building, which has seen an expansive glass frontage installed looking out onto Earle Street and new stalls built inside.
A community space has been created with wooden tables and benches so market goers can sit down to enjoy street food from vendors.
One of the first events at the hall is a Young Trader Market on Saturday, June 5, which is open for those aged 16 to 30 who want to showcase their trading skills.
Market bosses are looking for entrepreneurs with a competitive streak to take part; admission is free, as are all tables and gazebos and public liability insurance.
Winners of the event will go forward to the regional National Market Traders Federation (NMTF) finals in Warrington and potentially national finals at Stanford-Upon-Avon later in the year.
Entrants don't need to have an established business, they can be starters or even those with just an idea of what they might be able to sell.
The official launch of the new Crewe Market Hall takes place on June 21, which coincides with the government's planned ending of all restrictions on social mixing.
Several of the 10 businesses that have signed up for stall space are food outlets heralding a change of emphasis from traditional markets to a food and entertainment/arts orientated venue, similar to the style of markets opened in Altrincham and Wrexham in recent years.
A stage has been erected for live shows and local musicians have already tested the facilities.
Application forms for the Young Trader Market are available here.
