Crewe Railroaders celebrated a vastly-improved 2022 campaign.

The American Football club signed off their season by beating Conference champions Staffordshire Surge 8-7, which was their third success from their six-game league fixture list.

In 2021 the Railroaders lost every game played, but now Head Coach Jason Smith is looking to build on the progress and a recruitment drive has been launched.

This year's successes were a 49-14 triumph at Leigh Miners, a closely-fought 33-32 verdict in the reverse fixture with Leigh and the home finale against local rivals Surge.

Wide receiver number 7 Hus Roberts, sponsored by Keepmoat Homes, led the season with five touchdowns out of a team total of 16. While David Davenport and Craig Edmondson led the way with two-point conversions.

Defensive coordinator Simon Richards led a much-improved defence with number 55 Mark Brunson leading the team in sacks and tackles from his defensive tackle berth.

Linebacker David Miller recorded the most interceptions within the team.

Recruitment has started for the 2023 season and open sessions will start on October 16 at King George's Playing Fields.

Head Coach Smith said: "If you would like to try the sport or you are interested in coaching then please get in touch with the team through our social media channels."

The Railroaders marked their players' achievements with an end-of-season awards night at Hickory's in Shavington last night (Saturday).

You can find the Railroaders on social media here and here.
