FIREFIGHTERS released a woman who was trapped in her car after a crash near Barthomley last night (Wednesday).

The collision involved a grey Toyota Yaris and a yellow Kia Xceed on the A500 before 7pm.

Police said a 52-year-old woman from Nantwich was released from the Kia.

Fire officers removed the roof of the vehicle so that paramedics could reach the woman who was taken out of the vehicle using a spinal board before she was taken to the Royal Stoke Hospital.

Cheshire Police said: "She (motorist) was taken to the Royal Stoke Hospital as a precaution but her injuries are not believed to be life threatening."

The road was cleared by 8.30pm.
