A Crewe Girlguiding unit is appealing for new volunteers to come forward and help support local girls, and help secure the future of the group.

The unit meets every Monday from 7.30pm to 9pm next to Bentley Motors, and organisers say they are looking for women aged 18 and upwards who can help regularly during weekly sessions.

Without additional adult volunteers present for the full evening meetings, the long-running local group will struggle to continue offering weekly activities for girls in the area.

Volunteers do not need previous experience, as training and support are provided. The role offers opportunities to build leadership, communication and organisational skills, while also boosting confidence and making new friendships.

Girlguiding gives young members the chance to:

• Make new friends and have fun
• Take part in camping trips, activities and holidays
• Learn new skills and discover new interests
• Build confidence and find their voice
• Try experiences they may not otherwise have access to

Unit organisers say one evening a week can make a real difference to keeping the group running for local girls.
