A CREWE motor dealership has donated nearly £3,000 to a circus show for families with disabled, disadvantaged and vulnerable children.

Swansway Group, which owns Crewe Audi, Crewe SEAT and Crewe Volkswagen, has made the gesture to Congleton-based charity Circus Starr.

The group has donated £2,980 through the sale of Motability vehicles across their 17 Motability dealerships.

It will pay for tickets to be sent to children and their families through a network of hospices, schools, hospitals, regional branches of national charities and support groups.

Families can also apply direct to Circus Starr.

Circus Starr's Sarah Hall said: "The global pandemic really hit us hard and we missed out on a whole year of putting smiles on the faces of so many children and their families.

"We have just completed our first tour back since March 2020 and we couldn't be happier. This latest donation from Swansway Group will help us to continue bringing smiles to faces up and down the country next year and we really can't wait."

Swansway Group Director David Smyth said: "The last few months have been tough in the motor trade. Stock supply issues have been affecting our ability to fulfil new car orders, particularly for those on the Motability Scheme.

"But we're extremely pleased to be able to support Circus Starr with donations like this one and long may it continue."

Circus Starr have just wrapped up their Summer tour and will be returning in January 2022 with their kick-off show in Cambridge. Click here to find a Circus Starr 2022 show near you.

Circus Starr Clown Chico added: "After a crazy few months it has been wonderful to perform for Circus Starr again. Seeing how all of the children react to the show is amazing, so thank you to Swansway for helping to make it possible."

The Motability Scheme is open to anyone in receipt of higher rate mobility allowance (such as the Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment or the Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance).

Recipients can exchange all or part of their allowance to lease a Motability car such as an SUV, saloon, hatchback or MPV across a wide range of vehicle makes.
