AN IT firm is hiring for new roles for a new call centre it is opening on Crewe Business Park.

Brightstar has announced its centre at Orbit Development's Gawsworth House is part of a £50 million investment in the UK.

The device protection company says it will provide a "dedicated hub for excellence in customer service and a platform for growth for the next decade".

Its new location will be the base for over 120 call centre staff, some of them existing employees who are relocating from Brightstar's current site on Weston Road.

But the firm says it will also be taking on new staff as a result of the growth, which will see it establish the "new dedicated centre of excellence call centre".

Work has begun preparing offices at Gawsworth House so the centre can be operational at the start of April.

Brightstar supports some of the biggest brands in mobile and financial services, including trade-in, insurance, technical support, accessories management and reverse logistics.

Last year it announced "significant" investment into Crewe, including a hi-tech Advanced Fulfilment Centre consisting of two purpose-built units at Crewe Commercial Park off the A500.

"Together with our Advanced Fulfilment Centre we're creating world class operations that will drive exceptional customer experiences for our clients," said Gerry O'Keeffe, Brightstar Executive Vice President.

"Brightstar has a proven track record for enhancing NPS and customer satisfaction and I'm thrilled that our new contact centre will enable us to become the first-choice device protection service provider in the UK."

Leasing Director at Orbit Developments Paul McLeman said: "We have worked very closely with Brightstar in recent months to ensure they have a fit-for-purpose space for this important centre. We are delighted to be playing our part in further cementing the firm's relationship with Crewe and its enduring contribution to the local economy."

Andy Butler, Director at Legat Owen chartered surveyors, who helped secure the deal for all parties, added: "The occupational market is showing great resilience in Crewe and the wider south Cheshire area thanks to businesses such as Brightstar. We are proud to be involved in the deal, which will bring further investment and job opportunities to the area."
