RESIDENTS in Crewe came together to hold their inaugural 'May Day on the Avenue' scarecrow trail on Sunday.

The scarecrow trail followed a route around the Ludlow Circle incorporating Ludlow Avenue and Stanhope Avenue and featured over fifteen front garden scarecrow displays.

Residents put a lot of effort and imagination into their scarecrow designs which included a Lady Ludlow, a gardener enjoying a glass of wine, a builder with high-viz vest as well as maypole dancers, a car mechanic, furloughed worker and socially distanced scarecrows waiting to be vaccinated!

The scarecrows were all judged in the morning by staff from Crewe Fire Station.

Several households also setup a bric-à-brac table on the pavement in front of home.

Money from donations and tables will go towards Christmas in the Avenue 2021.
