Calm 84 FC Crewe are a newly formed charity football team, based in Crewe, who raise money for CALM and for local charities.
Calm 84 FC Crewe played their first match against another charity football team when they faced Heart Warriors FC.
The match took place on the afternoon of Sunday 6th June 2021 at Whitegate United FC’s ground at Whitegate near Northwich.
The score was a 4-4 stalemate after a competitive 90 minutes, so went to penalties. All eleven players from each side got to take a penalty with Heart Warriors FC winning a close shootout to win the game.
Entry was by donation and the money raised will go to Heart Warriors FC’s main charity partner - Ronald McDonald House at Alder Hey Liverpool - who since 1993 have provided home from home accommodation for the families of seriously ill children receiving care and treatment at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
Calm 84 FC Crewe raises awareness and funds for CALM, a leading a movement against suicide, as every week 125 people in the UK take their own lives and 75% of all UK suicides are male.
CALM provides a free, confidential helpline 0800 58 58 58; webchat (5pm-midnight, 365 days a year) staffed by trained professionals; bereavement support; a website: with inspiring content; and campaigns tackling stereotypes of masculinity, suicide and mental health.
Calm 84 FC Crewe host a weekly training session at King George V playing fields in Crewe and aim to hold a fixture against a fellow charity club every month.
Calm 84 FC Crewe are also participating in the National Affinity Cup, an FA Cup style competition for UK based charity football clubs to promote unity, togetherness and purpose.
