Family-owned Swansway Group, with new and used car and van dealerships located across the North West and Midlands is showing its support for Road Safety Week 2021 with the offer of a free tyre tread depth gauge* available from its Crewe-based dealerships and Accident Repair Centre, to help ensure tyre safety for drivers.
The theme of this year's Road Safety Week is "Road Safety Heroes" and is an opportunity to acknowledge all the excellent work undertaken by everyone who helps make road journeys as safe as possible. "Heroes" include road policing officers, fire and rescue services, health professionals amongst many others.
And Swansway Group is very proud to acknowledge all the vital work vehicle technicians undertake to ensure vehicles are safe whilst out on the road.
As well as carrying out servicing and maintenance for vehicles across the region, a key area of a vehicle technician's role is undertaking MOT tests.
An MOT test is a legal requirement on the 3rd anniversary of a vehicles first registration and on every anniversary of its last MOT thereafter. The test checks 21 elements of your vehicle to ensure it meets road safety and environmental standards.
One of these elements is the vehicles tyres; the technician is responsible for checking the condition, size and type as well as the tread depth. In some instances, the tyre pressure monitoring system is also checked.
The legal tread depth minimum limit is 1.6mm regardless of the vehicles age so tread depth is an important measure throughout vehicle ownership.
As part of Swansway Group's support of Road Safety Week 2021, drivers can call in at Swansway Jaguar Crewe, Crewe Audi, Crewe SEAT, CUPRA Crewe, Crewe Volkswagen and Swansway Accident Repair Centre to collect a free tyre tread depth gauge*.
The gauge will enable regular monitoring of tread depth to not only reduce the chance of an MOT test failure, but more importantly increase safety on the road.
- Complimentary tyre tread gauges are available whilst stocks last and will be offered on a first come first served basis. One per person.
