Job Purpose
You will be responsible for the effective day-to-day operation and maintenance of all Wastewater Network powered assets e.g. pumping stations, combined sewer overflows and detention tanks within a defined geographical area. You will ensure the smooth operation of assets minimising any impact on the customer and ensuring excellent customer service at all times. You will provide the first call response, carrying out basic electrical and mechanical maintenance activities in response to reactive incidents
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
Providing first call response, carrying out basic electrical and mechanical maintenance activities in response to reactive incidents, you will be accountable for Root cause analysis and raising further work as appropriate for the appropriate skill set in order to resolve issues and prevent repeat failures. You will also be accountable for:
- Ensure full compliance with United Utilities' health and safety policies, including accurate completion of all regulatory and statutory data on company systems.
- Carry out planned and proactive operational and mechanical maintenance, and review alarm data to support asset performance.
- Liaise effectively with Wastewater Network Teams, internal departments, and external stakeholders to maintain service standards.
- Manage asset registration and de-registration, issue permits to work, and ensure powered assets meet all regulatory Environment Agency permit conditions.
- Identify and submit investment needs for powered assets, respond to customer complaints and appointments, and deliver excellent customer service with first-time resolution.

Technical Skills & Experience
In order to succeed in this role it is essential that you are able to demonstrate basic maintenance understanding of the operation of powered assets, and a general understanding of wastewater network activities. You will also be able to demonstrate:
- Flexible approach to a highly varied workload and the ability to work on your own initiative.
- Good communication skills - able to develop contacts across teams and departments.
- Good IT skills
A Full UK driving licence is required to carry out the role
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum of National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 2 qualification in Mechanical Maintenance (or equivalent in a relevant technical area).
