QUEENS Park's pothole-strewn car park is being targeted for improvements.

Years of neglect have left the facility at the popular Crewe attraction with enormous holes, which means the surface becomes a quagmire in the rain.

Crewe and Nantwich MP Kieran Mullan is backing a local campaign to get the car park fixed after Conservative Ward Volunteer Teja Vaddala highlighted the issue during his campaign in the Crewe West by-election.

While Mr Vaddala was unsuccessful in last Thursday's polls he has pledged to continue to press for repairs at the site.

"Queens Park is a fantastic asset for Crewe, one the whole town can be proud of. But for too long the car park has been allowed to get into a state of neglect," said the MP.

"Not only is the car park used for Queens Park but also for the nearby BMX and skating tracks."

"Teja convinced me that this issue needs more attention during his election campaign. He didn't make it over the line but he wants to carry on getting things done for residents of Crewe West and Crewe as a whole.

"People across the area make use of this fantastic opportunity to enjoy the outdoors."

The MP is exploring funding avenues and will apply pressure on Cheshire East Council to act.

Teja said: "This is just one of the things people raised with me when I was campaigning and I want to work with Kieran to help improve things for local residents."
