DAVE Artell was frustrated Crewe failed to win by more as a first-half double from Mikael Mandron secured a 2-0 win at MK Dons.

Mandron netted twice inside five first-half minutes on his return to the starting XI as the Alex compiled back-to-back away wins.

While Will Jaaskelainen pulled off some fine late saves, it was a comfortable win for the Railwaymen after the disappointment of losing to a stoppage-time goal against Hull at Gresty Road on Good Friday.

But boss Artell felt the margin of success should have been greater and noted: "Mikael could have had a hat-trick. It should have been more than two.

"I think we're the fourth highest in the league for chances created, but not the fourth highest for goals scored because we'd be further up the table if we were. Today's game was another example of that."

Mandron turned and finished to put Crewe ahead in the 15th minute and followed it up when he controlled Charlie Kirk's cross and drove a shot through keeper Andy Fisher's legs for his second (20).

Former Stoke striker Cameron Jerome fired against the post after the restart and Jaaskelainen kept out headers from Charlie Brown and Harry Darling in the closing minutes.

MK boss Russell Martin said: "We started really poorly and they were two really poor goals from our point of view - they didn't have to work hard enough for their goals. But we were playing against a good team and they had some good moments."
