Are you a carer for someone in receipt of one of the following? Or do you receive one of the following yourself?

* Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance (HRMC DLA)

  • Enhanced Rate Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (ERMC PIP)
  • War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement (WPMS)
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)
If you care for someone that receives one of these allowances, or you receive one yourself, and you have 12 months remaining, you could be eligible to join The Motability Scheme and exchange all, or part of your allowance for a brand new car from local motor group Swansway. The scheme is open to anyone from the age of 3 that receives these allowances and it works by paying what is called an 'Advance Payment' upfront which is funded by you, the customer. Advance Payments range from £0 to just under £9,000 and is different for every brand and every model. The advance payments are unfortunately non-negotiable and are not flexible. The lease agreement with Motability will then take all, or part of the weekly mobility supplement to pay for the vehicle throughout its lease. A standard lease on a new car is three years, and five years for a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV). The person taking out the Motability agreement can select a named driver to drive the vehicle should they not be able to drive themselves. This could be a family member, a friend, or a carer. You can have up to three named drivers on a vehicle. There are also some considerations for those under the age of 25, this includes the vehicle being less than 120 BHP (Brake Horse Power) and in an insurance group of 16 or below. Each lease provides worry-free motoring with the following items included: Insurance (for up to three drivers), servicing, maintenance and repairs due to general wear, breakdown cover, tyre repair and replacement, and also windscreen repairs. So all you need to worry about is fuel. Swansway have three dealerships in Crewe offering the Motability Scheme; Crewe Audi, Crewe Volkswagen and Crewe SEAT. With friendly Motability Specialists at each site, you can be confident that your specific needs will be listened to and catered for. What's more, Swansway supports locally based charitable organisation Circus Starr. For every vehicle provided by a Swansway dealership on the Motability Scheme, a £20 donation will go to Circus Starr to help fund tickets to a fun-filled family day out at the circus for disabled, disadvantaged and vulnerable children. To date, Swansway have donated more than £75,000 to the cause. Check out the latest models and offers available on the Motability scheme at Swansway.
